In June 2026, All Love Foundation embarked on a life-changing journey to Abuenu and Old Ebu Brebia D/A schools in the Central Region of Ghana. The outreach was in collaboration with Ms. Gloria Afriyie Anane, a graduate student at the School of International Service (SIS), American University, and recipient of the Prof. Gary R. Award. Ms. Anane has a growing passion for using communication as a tool of impact at the intersection of Diplomacy, global health, and community development. The focus of this initiative was to address some critical aspects of students’ well-being: education and health awareness, particularly with the girl child. This was done by providing essential school supplies and an educational session on menstrual hygiene.
Background of the Beneficiaries
Abuenu and Old Ebu Brebia D/A Basic Schools are located in a remote part of the Central Region, about an hour’s drive from the region’s capital, Cape Coast. Students in these schools are from diverse family backgrounds, many of whom are low-income families. Some of these students face challenges that distract their academic and personal growth as a result of their inability to access certain fundamental educational resources. Girls, in particular, often struggle with menstrual health management, which can lead to absenteeism and academic setbacks. Recognizing these challenges, All Love Foundation identified Abuenu and Old Ebu Brebia D/A Basic Schools as priority beneficiaries for its outreach program. The Foundation sought to reduce barriers to education by providing essential learning materials and menstrual health support, enabling students, including girls, to attend school regularly and pursue their education with confidence and dignity.
The Donation Drive
All Love Foundation, together with Ms. Gloria Afriyie Anane, utilized funds from her Gary Weaver Award to make provision for 500 sanitary pads and other essential study materials for the female students. This was to make sure they have access to menstrual hygiene products during the outreach. This was a step in the direction of addressing the issue of absenteeism among the girls in the school. In addition, 2000 exercise books and some stationery items were donated to equip the students with basic tools to improve their learning experience.
This was a crucial step in tackling period poverty and creating an environment for students to further pursue their educational goals. These donations serve as a symbol which strengthens the foundation’s mission to end barriers that deter educational progress. This also reduces the financial burdens and provide a learning environment that is conducive.
Educational Session on Menstrual Hygiene
As part of the outreach, there was an educational session on menstrual hygiene where the female as well as the male students were enlightened about the myths that surround menstruation. Also, students were provided with accurate health information such as the importance of menstrual hygiene management, ways to care for themselves during their periods, and how to seek help when needed. This session was an open discussion, and students were encouraged to ask questions about reproductive health.
Impact On the Community
The educational and essential hygiene supplies provided eased the financial burden on students, parents, and guardians while also ensuring that the pupils had the resources needed to fully and confidently participate in their education. About 215 students from both schools benefited from this outreach, which included both boys and girls from the nursery through to the junior high school.

The schools are located in a Fante-speaking community, which made it nearly impossible for some of the volunteers who do not speak or understand the language to interact with the students in the local language. Despite these obstacles, the dedication of the team members, the cooperation of the school authorities, and the enthusiasm of the learners made the outreach a success. Mr. Justice Gyimah, a dedicated teacher at Abuenu D/A Basic School, played a pivotal role in coordinating the Foundation’s activities with the school. From mobilizing students and liaising with school authorities to ensuring the smooth running of the program, his unwavering support was invaluable to the success of the outreach.

While the mission of the foundation is to continue to provide educational resources, health support and advocacy for students in need, it also aims to follow-up on its beneficiary schools, to monitor the impacts of its interventions. It hopes to create a lasting improvement in educational outcomes and student well-being.
Through consistent outreaches, collaborations and commitment to service, the foundation is dedicated to ensuring that students, especially young girls, receive the support they need to succeed academically and personally.
